Libra Literacy Consulting (LLC) is committed to supporting educators in
building the literacy skills – reading, writing, speaking, and listening
- of their students – within and across all disciplines.
In today’s society, schools are finding an increasing need to help all
students excel in literacy related tasks. One of the best ways to
provide effective professional development for faculties is to bring
effective assistance right to your own school or area. When experts can
work with teachers, administrators, parents, and even the students in
your own environment, learning is more productive. Harriette Arrington,
founder of Libra Literacy Consulting, has been providing quality
professional development for over 18 years in the area of literacy for
grades K-12.
Libra Literacy Consulting was founded in 2003 in an effort to formalize
the delivery of professional development activities provided by the
founder. As requests for services increased, a more efficient and
effective professional development framework was needed to keep up with
the demand. Also, the goal was to reduce “one-shot” presentations and
move toward literacy action planning and coaching within the PD model.
Past experiences as a classroom teacher, district level administrator,
and university professor combined with her “drama for story”, blend well
to provide audiences of all sizes with a unique and upbeat teaching and
learning professional development opportunity.
