There are various options in the time, duration and audience composition
when planning your professional development experience. A good rule of
thumb is to assess the needs of teachers and what expertise they
currently have in a particular area to determine the best fit between:
presentations, coaching, demonstration lessons. The best results usually
come from ongoing support instead of one-time presentations. However, we
are willing to work within the confines of your budget, school/district
initiatives, and time restrictions.
Duration: Ranges from one-time presentation
to year-long contract.
Audience size: Ranges from one-to-one
coaching for teachers in need to presentations to all teachers in the
district (such as an inservice to open the school year).
Grade levels/Disciplines: Adaptable to all
grade levels and content areas.
Content: Content
focus will depend on your needs. Some teachers are interested in a
narrow focus such as vocabulary instruction, while others are interested
in broader themes such as effective strategy instruction. |
